ARE YOU LEFT HANDED OR RIGHT HANDED?

SHE WRITES:

I understand that yesterday's post was so heavy so let's have something light this time :o)
Here it goes...

I think my mom is talented - she writes with her left hand but eats with her right hand. My father-in-law is the same. One hand for this, the other for that. However, all my life I've been a right-handed person. Not so sure if I can still shift, hihi. My left is just a faithful assistant. Majority of the people on this planet are right-handed. In fact, in the manufacturing environment, our work instructions are designed for right handed people. So applying as a worker in this is a bit of a challenge and they really have to adjust because the work flow and the lay-outs are for the right handed. In the history of table manners, I read where it was considered bad manners to use your left hand to put food in your mouth.

Surprisingly, I came across this site designed for left handed people. It has this quote and it made me smile:

"If the left side of your brain controls the right side of your body, and the right side of your brain controls the left side of your body, then left-handed people must be the only ones in their right minds."
~ W.C. Fields

How about you? Are you left or right handed? It would be nice if you can share your advantages and challenges :o)

A. Right handed
B. Left handed
C. Both

YOU WRITE:

A. Right handed
B. Left handed
C. Both

I am right handed and my left mainly helps out like you. However my son is left handed in writing, when batting but uses his right hand for many other things. Interesting!

I am left-handed and so is my husband...but I do other things with my right hand but he is exclusively left-handed in everything. The irony is that my son is definitely showing us that he is naturally a right hander -- funny coming from two lefties! I remember my dad used to tell me that the nuns in his school (he went to Catholic school) used to hit the hands of kids with a ruler if they wrote with their left hands. So my dad had to switch to his right hand...and his handwriting is atrocious and I believe it is because he was forced to write with his wrong hand!

i am right handed. but there are certain things that my left does, too. and i find it awkward if my right hand does it. hehe

i use my right hand for writing. but funny, i also put my watch on the same hand. hehe

hello! well, i am right handed...through and through..hehehe

I am a lefty, but do a lot of things with my right hand. I got tested once and they said I had "multi-dominant brain syndrome" which basically means neither side is dominant..from what I understood..and that it can cause confusion when trying to decide which foot to put forward! One thing I know is that I am really clumsy...maybe because of that? Anyway, I shoot a gun and cut with scissors right handed, but eat and write left handed! Weird, huh! Interesting question! Lisa

Right handed.

What's always puzzled me is that, if the right side of the brain controls things on the left and the left side controls things on the right...what controls the things down the middle?

I'm a righty & so it my whole family. But both my hands get a bit tired after too much blogging!! Ha!

I am definitely right handed. When I was young, I tried to write with my left hand and, like anything else, after a while it got easier! When I focus, I can do almost the same things with my left as with my right...only slower.

I am right handed. My husband is right handed. My #1 son is right handed. My #2 son seems to be left handed for most things, then he switches up and uses his right hand. So we'll see.

I remember as a kid the ones that used their left hands had a hard time cutting. But today, they make left handed scissors. How cool.

I am severely right handed, to the point where, depending what I am eating and which is more used, I will have either my fork or knife in my right hand!

I notice that I'm the only one to say neither! However, my mum is right-handed and Uncle Hugh is left-handed. Mum reckons that's what gives him greater spacial awareness. I don't know if it's true or not but mum says that she read that left handed people as a group have historically produced an above-average quota of high achievers. Four of the last six US Presidents were left handed and so is Mr Obama (is that a good or a bad thing??????)

Eugene, what a word! o.o

Well for my answer: I'm right-handed but people confused me often when i was a kid. they would even argue where i should hold my spoon and my fork. in my early grade school times i tried writing in both hands but it was a desperate attempt. but i personally know someone who can use both in writing!

(is it true, some people can write with both hands about different stuffs, simultaneously?)

I'm right handed. My brother is left handed and I remember him having to seat himself at the table where he wouldn't always bump the person next to him.

I'm right handed. But a lot of people in my family is left handed.

A note to Lee: Is it just me, or does your "what controls the things down the middle" question really sound naughty?

right handed - i heard it was good for your brain to use the non-dominant hand for common tasks. try brushing your teeth with the "wrong" hand tonight...

Left-handed here. My father was the only other one in my family besides me, unless you count my mother...but as a child in school, she was forced to use her right hand because it was well "right" so she doesn't use the left anymore.

Growing up in a right-handed world (3 bros & a sis) makes you accommodate yourself to a lot...I tried using left-handed scissors before, but they were strange to me.

I do tend to eat with my right hand - that's a combination of my desire to be from England, and the Indian culture that's present in my home =]

I'm just a left-handed girl in a right-handed world.

I've gotta say though, getting pencil on the side of your hand from writing IS rather annoying. Tell tale signs, they are <3

I am right handed and so are my daughter and mother...however I discovered that my mother used to be left handed. She told me that in her youth being left handed wasn't particularly viewed as being a virtue or asset, so a lot of kids had it beaten out of them. The logic being so that they could "better adjust" or better assimilate to school. Sort of like the previous comment about the nuns hitting your hands. Horrible huh!

My husband is left handed. I was born left handed, but my mum and teachers tried to break me of using it. So now I use both. My husband says it's funny to watch me work; I often interchange hands.

I cant do alot with the left.. not even use a spoon...lol
I think I could manage a fork or finger foods.
A coworker whos a lefty puts all the residents utensils on the left when she sets the tables, I come in and switch them over so these blind folks can find them...lol

I am right handed but can use either hand, except for writing. My sister and brother in law are both lefties, so we sit them at the end of the dining table on holidays..

I'm a righty :)
I write, throw, draw, and whatever with my right hand. But I eat and put make-up on with my left.

PS: Some old teacher I had in school said that the reason people are left handed is because they were a twin but for whatever reason the other one self aborted early on or I don't know, something like that. I don't believe that at all, but it sounds neat if it were ture.

I'm right-handed; my hubby is also right-handed but has more use of his left arm than I do; one kid is right-handed the other is left-handed; we just had to make sure at restaurants they sat so they weren't bumping each other as they tried to eat. cute question :)

I am right handed. I am a a tad bit ambidextrous too - yes, I write with my left hand too, not as well and not as fast, but I can, slowly and steadily.

What I do well though is write backwards. Yes, I totally relate to this left-handed site, coz I LOVE and yes I mean LOVE writing backwards. I do so with my right hand though, so I start from the far right of the page, and work backwards. So if you put it in front of the mirror, itll read just fine. I enjoy it, I do numbers too. Yes, kinda weird huh, and no I am not dyslexic.

Wow! This is an interesting post. I am LEFT-HANDED at all times with all given instances or whatnot. But if needed, I can use my right but kind of weak.
