WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY MEMORY?

SHE WRITES:

I'd like to thank Henry the Dog for this topic suggestion. Oh... WELCOME BACK!!! Thanks for catching up on my previous posts =) Very much appreciated.

For my case, I've actually got lots but I'll share the recent one. December 25, 2007...It was our first Christmas as a family together and we celebrated it here in China. We spent 2 Christmases away from each other. Joey was alone in China (there's no Christmas holiday here so he had to work on Christmas day) while EJ and I were in the Philippines celebrating with our relatives. Last year however, EJ and I joined him here... Joey took a leave from work so we can surprise EJ with early morning Christmas gifts. We didn't give him so much but looking at his face while opening his presents made us feel he was the happiest kid alive! We also celebrated our first new year together =) and on and on...

How about you? What's your favorite holiday memory?

A. Thanksgiving
B. Christmas
C. Others (pls. specify)

Oh wah! We were travelling for seven months this year (March - September)and everyone asks 'what was the best/nicest/most memorable thing? It is so hard to choose. Every country (there were 14 of them) was different and, in their own way, special. But then coming home to a familiar bed and being able to wander around my own home in bare feet and a dressing gown was pretty good too.

all wonderful holidays we have had; but my favorite one that I'm thinking of just now was Thanksgiving about 10 years ago; my youngest son had chickenpox; it was a quiet day, not like previous ones, but it was fun just the 4 of us at home, hanging out, watching movies, eating food, etc.

I liked your memory; that was a special time indeed!

one of my most memorable was my christmas in singapore. my father's bday is dec. 24, so every year, it is a big celebration for my family. but not that year. oh yeah, they continued to celebrate without me. while i was alone in the apartment in singapore. i cooked spaghetti and ate it all by myself. called up home, there were lots of people in the house.

well, christmas. one time is was in the US for the holidays. that was a swell vacation. but it is different when you are spending holidays with family back home. i remember opening gifts beside the christmas tree by the fireplace and enjoying snow outside. but when i hit the bed, i cried. i still felt lonely...

Christmas. my most recent happiest would be last christmas, coz it was the first christmas that i am already married. we had simple dinner at home with family, we went to church for the christmas mass, but we were so happy. and this christmas, we have a bouncing baby inside my womb to join us in the celebration. :-)

CHRISTMAS - YEAH!!! I love Christmas. It's usually just mum, Uncle Hugh and me but it's always great fun. We have a cosy day in, slobbing around and watching crap on TV. Mum is always happy and she gets squiffy on champagne as soon as she gets up. It's the only day of the year that she really lets her hair down, drinks and eats what she wants and smiles all day. AND I always get loads of left-over turkey. Thank you by the way for your post about me. Also, thanks for sharing your very precious memory with us, your very cute son looks as if he's having a fab time:D

I don't celebrate any of those but most of my holiday memories are of our Eidil Fitri with our family back in our hometown. This year's was special since we celebrated in my dad's village..where the next house is a mile away..it's just us and the nature!

When I was about eight I woke up one Christmas morning and it was still dark outside. I went downstairs and the tree was ablaze with twinkling lights and a huge pile of toys were under the tree. The tree had a toy train village around it and the creche with the Holy Family, baby Jesus, and the sheep, cattle, camels and a donkey surrounding it. When I got older I wondered how they managed to set that all up without making any noise. My father worked for the railroad and money was scarce; my mother told me much later that her mother always gave her the money to buy gifts for the children. When you are a child sometimes the excitment was so intense.

My there are so many.....
I guess it would be our first Hanuakkah together.
The first few days we spend it amoung ourselves; enjoying the lights and story of Hanukkah. And then we flew out to California to spend the rest of Hanuakkah witht the Aunt and Uncle that raised him the first several years of his life. This would be the first time I would meet the family. We took our gifts and gifts for the family.
We lit the candles with our family and even celebrated Shabbath with them.
It was wonderful.

My favourite memory is of the first Christmas with our daughter who was just a few weeks old. All our parents were alive then, by the following year one had passed away. So that Christmas was very very special and always will be.

P.S. You ought to add followers to your blog then we could all add ourselves. It is under gadgets.

My favorite Christmas tradition has been the grown-up stockings that my siblings & parents exchange after the little kids have all opened their gifts & are busy in another room or in bed on Christmas night. It's always silly small gifts but so fun!

C) OTHER. Mine has to be Easter. Every year, I work through Christmas so I can take Easter off to go camping with my church (well, actually there are about 5 churches who go). I would go camping every weekend if I could, and this is as close to the real thing that most of my friends do - we stay in tents on a school field about 45 minutes away from PE. There are hot showers, but we cook on gas or fire! I love it every year, even when the boys leave frogs in our tent and we only discover them the next morning! (This is not a problem for me as I love frogs but my tent-mates have a major phobia of these cute little guys...)
Easter 2007 was a very special year in particular. I have always used my second name (Fiona) as I absolutely hated my first name, but God had been doing a lot of work in my life leading up to that time and during a time of ministry at camp we really felt that He was telling me that I needed to start using my first name, as a symbol of the work He is doing in my life. Ever since then I have been Varla... It was weird for us all while we got used to it, but now some people don't even know that I was called Fiona for so many years!

Halloween this year, definitely.
It was my nephew's 1st birthday and we had a bunch of babies in cute costumes.
